“Ogi fan” represents Japanese culture
“Ogi fan” was invested in Japan based on “Uchiwa fan” introduced from China. It is used not only for practical purposes but also in rituals and arts such as rituals, performing arts, poetry and paintings.
“Ogi fan” means “spreading toward the end” and one of the congratulatory motif.
“Ogi fan flowing”
Many artistic figures of Ogi fan flowing on the surface of the water have been drawn since the Middle ages.
Even now, at the "Mifune Festival" held in May in Kyoto, “Ogi fan flowing" that retains the remnants of the Heian period is performed.
<About materials>
Three-layered steel with SPG2 (powder steel) is used for the blade. For handle, brass is used and “black persimmon” is selected to express the wooden part of the Ogi fan.
We aimed for an expression method only the brass can produce in order to make the best use of the material “brass”. It took a lot of time and effort to produce the intended “patina” and trial and error has been repeated to produce a uniform color.
* "Patina" is the "rust" of copper alloy that is manually generated one by one over time. The color will change depending on the environment and time and we hope you enjoy it.
“Black persimmon” is one of the most famous and valuable trees in Japan.
