While we were looking for new materials in order to create limited-edition knives, the world-famous guitar brand “ESP”, which is a guitar maker for top artists, supplied us with “REX wood”.

“REX wood” is a material uniquely made from scratch for a guitar. This material gets its high strength by impregnating many different-color paints and resin into the high-graded wood with a complicated figure, yet still capitalizing on the wooden uniqueness. This material is used for one of the most excellent guitars, the “exhibition limited” model.

When receiving the material from ESP, we were attracted to its beauty like an “unpolished gemstone” and discussed how we could adapt this beautiful material into a knife. The “REX wood” itself has its unique color and figure; therefore, we decided to make the whole design simple and retrieve our discontinued model “MC-006”.
We aimed to combine the blade with the handle material impactfully. The surface of the blade has a texture similar to “Meteorite crystal”.

The material of this handle is a special material used only for customized knives. Each one was carved by hand and creates an illusion of cut stone. It provides various features depending on the angle you see it from.

Here is the new MCUSTA knife filled with romance which represents the sound of the ESP guitar.
